It was a night we won’t soon forget.

In celebration of National Volunteer Month in April, the AMA Cincinnati chapter did something it hasn’t done in several years or in recent history: treat our volunteers to something special as a token of appreciation for all they do.

What with warm days and cool nights, the start of spring, and baseball season in full swing, why not take in a Reds Game at the Great American Ball Park?

Afton Palmer, VP of Talent Management, coordinated about 30 AMA Cincinnati volunteers to attend the Reds v. Marlins game on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, and even sweetened the night’s festivities with a ticket to the Sky Star Wheel and SWAG bags for everyone.

We also encouraged attendees to write down a few thoughts about why they volunteer with AMA Cincinnati. You can view their responses in the photo gallery — and even contribute your own by printing this PDF (link), writing your thoughts, snapping a picture and sharing on social media.

Within a period of a year, we host nearly 90 events–that’s averaging two per week–that provide networking, professional development or continuing education opportunities for those in the marketing industry. Being a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, AMA Cincinnati is able to pull off those 90+ events solely with the help of partners (cash and in-kind sponsors) and the efforts of our volunteers.

Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers who continually show up and speak up to take our chapter to new heights and position ourselves as the premiere professional associations for marketers.

In case you missed it, we also make a point to recognize at least one Volunteer and Board Member every month. Check them out on our blog:

We hope this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Event starts a new tradition and lays the foundation for future years of appreciating those who give to our chapter. It’s never too late to join us as a member and volunteer! There is always something to do or a new way to contribute, so we are always recruiting volunteers out of our membership base! Contact Afton Palmer at talent@AMACincinnati.org to talk about where you want to grow and how you can contribute on one of our many committees.
