Topic: Incorporating Playification Into Data
Facilitator: Natasia Malaihollo, Chief Hacker/Founder, WYZERR
For the past few years, designers, user experience (UX), and UI enthusiasts championed the integration of game-design elements and game principals into every consumer engagement platform possible—a practice that became widely known as gamification. However, as with any other digital or board game, users were overcome with fatigue over time. Platforms infused with gamification gradually lost their appeal. Designers realized it wasn’t really about being game-like. The appeal is around being fun and playful. This presentation will cover how to integrate Playification concepts and ideologies into a typically boring topic: data.
Our facilitator, Natasia Malaihollo, is the CEO and Lead Programmer at Wyzerr. This is Ms. Malaihollo’s second startup in 4 years. Her first startup was a hyper-local social network for college students called Sooligan. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Ms. Malaihollo studied law, with a focus on Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology. She worked for several years as a patent specialist and trademark agent. Ms. Malaihollo is actively involved in community programs and initiatives surrounding literacy, and is very passionate about strengthening schools in low-income neighborhoods. She hopes to one day open a state-of-the-art interactive “library experience.”
