Trailblazer Series
What industry, according to Forbes, has had to redefine its role and mission the most? Marketing.
Executing current strategy is an ever-diminishing part of a marketer’s job. Now more than ever, marketers are responsible for spotting new trends to help their organizations innovate and evolve.
AMA Cincinnati is here to help with that. The new Trailblazer Series is a large-format professional development program (think “TED Talks”) featuring marquee-type thought leaders who will share a wealth of innovative ideas and practical advice. Chances are, they’ve been — and still are — in your shoes.
Held quarterly on Fridays, the Trailblazer Series brings our community these headliners who will address the hottest topics in marketing from their point of view.
The general format is:
- Networking (seriously, we want these events so everyone can meet someone new!)
- Lunch served
- Introduction and keynote presentation
- Closing announcements
- Networking and optional workshop with the speaker (if available)
Past speakers include authors like Ann Handley, content marketer Michael Brenner, research heavy-hitters like LexisNexis and Cincinnati’s own Procter & Gamble, Graeter’s, Kroger, and Fifth Third Bank, to name a few.
As for our strategic partners, this is their chance to shine and your chance to get to know them better at hosted tables and facilitated conversation.
Communities
Communities are robust and engaging small-group facilitated roundtable discussions of 10 to 25+ attendees meeting in a relaxed setting. Formerly known as Shared Interest Groups, or SIGs, Communities meets once a month (with a few exceptions) at a standing location (check the event calendar for details) and they tend to have faithful regulars as well as welcoming new faces!
Our standing Communities are focused on key strategic disciplines within marketing:
- Digital Marketing
- Customer Experience & Sales Enablement
- Business-to-Business (B2B) Marketing
- Market Research
- Job Transition Group
While our monthly Communities often feature expert guest facilitators, the emphasis is on an interactive group discussion and the sharing of both practical and emerging ideas. These events are a great place to quickly build a focused network, find “adjunct colleagues” for a “marketing department of one,” explore a casual speaking opportunity, or brainstorm ideas with a group that usually includes some highly experienced practitioners and leaders.
We also offer specialized Communities to support your professional growth and development at all stages of your career:
- Young Professionals (YPs) and Collegiate
- Executive Marketer Community
- CMO Roundtable
Marketing Pinnacle Awards
Our Marketing Pinnacle Awards are an annual celebration of marketing excellence across the Greater Cincinnati region, showcasing winning campaigns across more than 10 categories, a new class of Cincinnati Marketing Legends, and (new!) the Pinnacle Moment Award. Learn more
Social Events + Happy Hours
At AMA Cincinnati, we’re serious about fun. We love gathering through social events and happy hours to have an opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new connections:
Coffee & Conversation
On the first Thursday of the month, we gather for coffee and conversation with guests and members to make new connections and discuss how AMA Cincinnati can help you meet your professional goals. It’s a casual way to learn how to get involved!
Happy Hours
Hosted by our YP Committee, our happy hours are open to all marketing professionals. The primary objectives are networking and fun, but they occasionally also include light professional development activities or speakers. Past happy hours include Local Post, Streetside Brewing, Little Miami Brewing, Rhinegeist, and more!
Holiday Party
Each December, we have a holiday event focused on fun and charity where we gather to celebrate the joys of the season with our friends and colleagues, and raise some funds for worthy causes. Past events include a Bears & Beers benefit with Braxton Brewing and Build-A-Bear to support St. Joseph Orphanage; karaoke in support of Wordplay; and more!
Marketing Workshops
These are more in-depth professional development sessions (about 2 hours in length) on specific marketing topics – often attached to a Signature Speaker Series events for further exploration and hands-on execution guidance on the higher-level ideas presented there. We hold approximately two workshops per year, focused on mid and entry level professionals.
